King George V 1911 - 1936

King George V coins were minted in india with his effigy from 1911 to 1936. Due to increase in silver prices silver coin of 1/4 rupee, 1/2 rupee and 2 annas were discontinued. Then copper-nickel coins of 8 anna, 4 anna and 2 anna were introduce. Due to not much popularity 8 anna and 4 anna were discontinued shortly. Soon silver 1/4 and 1/2 coins were again introduced.

Due to outbreak of World War II price of silver went up and so coins in this period were of 0.5 silver. 1939 1 rupee silver coin is most expensive British Indian coin as they were produced quite limited in quantity.

Obverse Type: Bust C there are 3 and half panels in dress.
It is of reverse type II where flower at 12 o clock position is wide open
